Dr. Mills passed away June 14, 2016

September 25, 1920 – June 14, 2016

George T. Mills ’49 was born on September 25, 1920, the 3rd of 6 children of Charles and Ina Mills, in Memphis, TN.  He died in Monroe, NC on June 14, 2016, only hours prior to the birth of his second great-grandchild.

His graduation from LLUSM ’49 started a long list of family LLUSM alumni, including one brother, one son, 2 nephews, a daughter-in-law, 3 grandchildren (plus one spouse), and a great nephew (and his wife).

He practiced general medicine in Memphis for over 40 years, delivering over 3,000 babies in that time.  Early in his career, he spent 3 years in the Navy, at Millington Naval Air base just outside of Memphis.

He is survived by his wife of almost 70 years, Fay, who he met while she was in nursing school at Loma Linda, his 4 children: George T. Mills, Jr, Joan Banks, Robert C. Mills ’79-B, and Carolyn Mills, 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Active in the SDA church all his life, he served in many capacities, including participating in a church plant in Monroe, NC, where his son was lay pastor for many years.
