Jenny Jaque ’04, AA Media Advisory Council Chair, OB-GYN, says it’s been challenging for her and her husband, Jason Tomlin ’00 (General Surgery, Trauma/Critical Care). Having two physicians under one roof means that in the event of exposure, they are unable to use social distancing at home. She currently has no scrubs at work and is required to use the same mask for 24-38 hours straight, even in the operating room, with changes only allowed for another surgery on the same day. Her population of pregnant women is highly stressed as they face deliveries without family at their side. Starting next week, she will also be stationed in the ED to help with all women’s health issues, thus allowing her ED colleagues to focus on other patients during the surge. Through this turmoil and stressful time, she has found it a blessing to be able to pray with her patients in clinics and ask about their spiritual needs regardless of belief systems.
