Dr. Cook passed away June 7, 2016

February 13, 1932 – June 7, 2016

Roger C. Cook ’58, age 84, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2016 at the Oswego Hospital, surrounded by family and friends. From his birth in Parish, NY on February 13, 1932 to his death, he endeared himself to those around him by his deep faith, gentle nature, witty humor, physical strength and endless compassion. Roger was born to Charles and Irene Cook and attended school in Parish where he excelled in scholastics and multiple sports. He graduated Andrews University (E.M.C.) in 1954 with a Math & Science degree and a fiancé, Darlene Brenneman. They married August 31, 1951 and left for Medical School at Loma Linda University. Son Charles (Chuck) was born in 1957 and daughter Charene (Chary) in 1958. Roger served in the Navy Medical Corps and was stationed at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba for 2 years. They settled in Fulton, NY in 1962 and began Private Practice in Oswego, NY.  Roger regularly assisted in surgery at Oswego Hospital and later served as Medical Director for three local nursing homes, retiring in 1994. He was an active member of the Dexterville NY Seventh-day Adventist church, enjoyed woodworking and travel, including many trips as medical missionaries to South America.  His greatest joy was his family. Roger was predeceased by Darlene, beloved wife of 58 years.  Roger is survived by son: Charles M. Cook ’83 (Denise) Andrews University & LLU alumni, daughter: Chary Pack Hicks (Francis) – Andrews University Alumni, 4 granddaughters and 5 great grandchildren.
