Dr. Greavu passed away February 24, 2018

January 20, 1917 – February 24, 2018

Cornell Greavu Jr. ’53-A was a resident of Portland, TN, at the time of his death. Born into a family of farmers, he never lost his love of growing things, especially useful, edible things. At age 36, Cornell began his medical practice in North Branch. For 30 years, he served with compassion and caring, a small-town doctor who made house calls and didn’t charge an arm and a leg, but simply wished to see his patients healed. He retired in 1983 at the age of 66, and moved to Portland, TN, shortly thereafter, becoming active in his church community and enjoying the milder climate and friendly neighbors. Cornell will be missed by many and awaits the life-giving call of Christ at His second coming.

Cornell is survived by his wife, Beverly (Tiberghien) Greavu; four daughters, Sylvia (Richard) Williams, Wanda Hanson, Susan (Thomas) Hawkins and Rebecca (Eric) Koester; eight grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

He is predeceased by his parents, Cornell and Mary Greavu; his first wife, Eulalie (Boucher) Greavu; two sisters, Helen (Greavu Burbank) Ipes and Mary (Greavu) Randall; and a grandson, Wade Heiss.
